About the Program
Students will have an opportunity to study and learn about a $700 billion industry providing a variety of employment opportunities. An emphasis will be focused on construction safety, OSHA regulations, mathematics applications, and craft knowledge. In addition to a variety of hands-on experiences, students will be introduced to electricity, framing, plumbing, millwork, and problem solving activities related to the construction industry. Students will become proficient in identifying types of residential construction components to form foundations and frame walls, floors, ceilings, roofs, doors, and windows. Curriculum is developed by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). Skills USA, the co-curricular student organization, offers opportunities in leadership, community, and competitive events.
