Carpentry
About the Program
This two year program, offered only at the Career and Technology Center, introduces students to the exciting and diverse opportunities in the construction industry. The Carpentry program is open to 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students who are interested in learning many of the skills required in the field of carpentry, including blueprint reading, construction methods, material estimating, work ethics and safety. Extensive instruction is given in the appropriate and safe use of numerous power tools and their applications in the field. Students explore career opportunities and specializations within the construction industry such as construction supervisor, estimator, carpenter, contractor, architect and engineer. Student skills competition and leadership development is provided through participation in the SkillsUSA student organization at the local, state and national levels.
