About the Program

This course provides a foundation in electrical principles and practices, as well as a basic understanding of the National Electrical Code. The course focuses on the u201chowu201d and u201cwhyu201d of safe electrical wiring practices, following a logical sequence from residential electrical installations to concepts and principles of commercial and light industrial electrical construction. Students develop safety and workplace skills in tools and materials, electrical theory, and conduit and power systems. With an emphasis on safety, the NCCER Core Curriculum is used in this course. Students enrolled in this course will take a career and technical assessment approved by the Virginia Department of Education.
