About the Program
Students develop fundamental electrical skills to help them prepare for a career in the installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of residential, commercial, and industrial systems. Students will engage in hands-on activities in a lab setting. They will be introduced to residential wiring of houses and apartments; commercial wiring of retailers, schools, businesses, and hospitals; and industrial wiring of factories. All students will obtain the required OSHA 10 safety credential. Students may receive NCCER (National Center for Construction Education & Research Core Curriculum Certification by passing the exam. Workplace readiness skills of teamwork, communication, problem solving, positive work ethic and integrity are emphasized throughout the course. Students are expected to wear appropriate safety gear to include safety glasses, proper footwear and lab coats in the lab. Leadership is taught through activities in the professional student organization, Skills USA.
